Lake Hays is a great little lake to wet a beginners line or just a quiet place to relax with a pole on a hot day. Fishing is allowed in Big Indiana Creek or Cedar Lake with a valid Indiana Fishing License.
In 1992, grass carp were introduced to the lake to aid in the control of algae and vegetation growth. Because of the function of these fish, it is illegal in Indiana to catch these fish from a public waterway.
The Indiana Department of Natural Resources requires you to purchase an Indiana fishing license and adhere to their guidelines and rules for fishing in the state of Indiana.
